David Putegnat is an Austin-based Franchise Consultant with The Franchise Consulting Company, helping aspiring business owners identify franchise opportunities that align with their experience, financial goals, investment criteria, and desired lifestyle.

David brings more than 20 years of experience spanning finance, real estate, sales, and large-scale commercial construction. Throughout his career, he has developed financial feasibility and market-value analyses for development portfolios and managed estimating and cost controls for commercial projects ranging from $22 million to multi-billion-dollar developments, including data centers, civic facilities, and higher-education projects.

His background also includes residential real estate, where he worked with a RE/MAX team ranked fourth in the Rocky Mountain region, as well as hospitality sales and guest relations for a five-star lodge, where he helped grow annual clientele from 900 to more than 1,180.

David holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business and an MBA in Management from St. Edward’s University. That combination of financial training and hands-on business experience gives him a practical perspective when evaluating franchise opportunities—from initial investment and working capital to unit economics, territory, scalability, and the realities of day-to-day ownership.

David believes successful franchise consulting starts with understanding the person, not the brand. He takes the time to understand each client’s background, capital, strengths, and long-term objectives before introducing franchise concepts that genuinely fit.
