Bob has been in franchising for the last 24 years as a Master Franchisee for two different national franchise brands, one in food service and the second in retail services. Master franchising is a form of the franchisor-franchisee relationship in which the master franchisee essentially becomes a mini-franchisor also called the subfranchisor for a specified territory. Within that territory, the master franchisee recruits, trains, and provides site selection, lease negotiations, architectural drawings and ongoing support to each franchisee they sign. In essence, the master franchisee has the same responsibilities that the franchisor would have with a franchisee, except the franchisor develops the system and the master franchisee supports and implements the proven system with franchisees within its territory. Bob developed franchises throughout the entire State of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. During Bob’s franchising career, he recruited and developed hundreds of franchises with the sale of new single unit franchises, multi-unit development agreements and resales of existing franchise locations. Additionally, Bob successfully owned and operated a number of each of the franchise concepts.

Bob has been an active member of the International Franchise Associations (“IFA”) since 1994 and has attended every annual convention where franchisors, franchisees and franchise support companies all come together to collectively share ideas to help grow each other’s franchise business. It is a franchise networking/learning conference on steroids and a must attend convention when you become a franchisee or are in any aspect of franchising! 

The IFA also sponsors the Franchise Action Network Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. This meeting is an integration of grassroots advocacy programs of the IFA, franchisors and franchisees alike from around the country. This gives the franchisors and franchisees the opportunity to meet with their representatives in Congress to discuss how Congressional regulation impacts their franchise business model. During these Franchise Action Network Meetings, Bob has represented the franchise industry and his franchisees on Capitol Hill speaking with members of the Senate and House of Representatives on key issues facing the franchise industry.

Since 1994, Bob has been an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (“ICSC”) and attends the National and Regional ICSC conferences. Bob has negotiated every commercial retail lease for all franchisees under his master franchise license.  
 
In addition to his work in franchising, Bob has been active in his own community, being voted in as the Neighborhood Representative for many years and serves on various association committees. One of those committees is the Modification Committee, which enforces the architectural guidelines and reviews requested modifications to any of the 1600 homes in our community. Additionally, Bob serves on the Advisory Board of his Golf Club where his handicap these days are “start with one golf ball and end with the same golf ball”.


Prior to getting into franchising, Bob worked for 16 years in manufacturing and engineering at three great companies in New Jersey. The positions held were: (1) Technical Coordinator, Critikon, a division of Johnson & Johnson; (2) Sr. Engineer, Revlon Cosmetics; and (3) Manager of Plant Engineering, Lancôme Cosmetics. Although these positions and companies were respectable, the best career decision was to believe in myself and get into my own business 24 years ago and never looked back
